Our catchment area includes Dublin 8 and occasionally parts of Dublin 2 and Dublin 12.

Special areas of clinical interest include: women’s health, mirena coil Insertion, implanon insertion, cervical smears, chronic disease management, heartwatch, COPD, preventative medicine, emergency care provision and the care of elderly patients.

The practice also operates shared care services in areas such as diabetes, antenatal care and methadone maintenance.  Through the South Inner City of Dublin Partnership in Primary Care, the practice has direct access to physiotherapy services, dietetics, wound dressing and diagnostic imaging.

Our team consists of 9 General Practitioners, a practice nurse, a medical intern, a GP registrar and a full complement of administrative staff. We are fully computerised and we currently have about 7,000 registered patients both GMS and private.

The practice is a member of DUBDOC out of hours service.

Dr Gerard Bury MB MD FRCPI MICGP

Dr Gerard Bury was born in Dublin and studied medicine at Trinity College.  He is Professor of General Practice in UCD.  He set up the Coombe Family Practice in 1994. He is involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and he is Director of the UCD Centre for Emergency Medical Science

Dr Anna Beug MB BCH BAO MICGP

Dr Anna Beug is from Cork.  She graduated with honours from Trinity College Dublin in 1997 and completed her GP training with the Eastern Regional GP Training Scheme.  Anna is the mother of three boys.  She has been with the practice since 2002.

Dr Catherine Molloy  MB BCH BAO MRCPI DCH MICGP

Dr Catherine Molloy is from Dublin, where she studied medicine at Trinity College and graduated with an honours degree in 2001.  She completed her GP training with the Bristol Severn & Wessex Deanery, achieving a Merit in her MRCGP exams.  She joined the practice in 2006.

Dr Ciara McMeel is from Warrenpoint in Co Down.  She studied medicine in Trinity College Dublin where she graduated in 1997.  She trained as a GP with the Eastern Regional GP Training Scheme, graduating in  2001. Ciara joined UCD in 2011 as a lecturer, a post she continues to hold having joined the practice as a GP in 2012.

Dr Crea Carberry MB MRCGP MMedSc DCH DRCOG

Dr Crea Carberry is from Dublin and studied medicine at UCD.  She completed her GP training in Southampton.  She joined the practice in 2010.   She is a lecturer in General practice at UCD and divides her time between lecturing and clinical practice. 

Dr Nia Clendennen MB BCh BAO MRCGP MRCPI DCh DCP FPC DPD

Dr Nia Clendennen graduated from UCD.  She completed her medical training in the Mater Hospital. Following this she completed further training in General Practice in the UK.  She is currently a lecturer in UCD and divides her time between UCD and the practice.

Dr Tomas Barry MB BCH BAO MSc MICGP

Dr Barry is from Cork. He studied medicine at University College Dublin and completed GP training on the North Dublin GP Training Scheme. In addition to working at the Coombe Family Practice, Dr Barry is a lecturer and is actively engaged in research at UCD.

Practice Nurse – Elaine Long RGN RM RNP

Elaine is from Dublin.  She is a graduate of Trinity College, where she qualified as a registered nurse and midwife.  She joined the practice in 2011 and she runs the Chronic Disease Management, Heartwatch and Diabetes Clinics.  She has a special interest in women’s health and is a qualified Nurse Prescriber,  which allows her to provide certain consultations (such as contraception) without the need to see a doctor.
